Thankful!

Thankfulness is the birthplace and incubator of hope. Today, I have so much for which to be thankful. So in my quiet time I'm playing a speed game to list in one minute all I'm thankful for right now and what comes to mind in this minute. Ready, set, go:
Breath
Air conditioning
Provision
Watermelon
Manageable pain
A tasty cup of coffee
Makeup
Hair
Not out-of-control hair
Lips
Voice
His presence
His palm in which to rest
Chris
Sleep
His Shadow
His Word
Assurance
Safety
His power
My weakness
This journey
Friends and more friends
Encouragers
OK, time's up. When I ponder over this list, I can't help but be filled with hope. My cup runs over (Ps 23). "Surely," (with surety, in other words, with certainty) "goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life."
My hope is here. All is well.
And when we get home, I'm praying for two puppies. One I'll name, "Goodness" and the other, "Mercy." I'll let them follow me around, too. A double portion. He promises.
Love you. Love you. Love you. This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
